Getting There:
Haymarket/Chinatown is one of the most accessible and well serviced transport destinations in Sydney. It is surrounded by all major transport hubs and has level walking access connecting most points of interest. This makes visiting Haymarket/Chinatown very easy, convenient and safe for families, the elderly, disabled, adventurous or anyone.
Walk / Cycle:
Just a short walk or ride from Darling Harbour, Chinese Gardens, Entertainment Centre, Powerhouse Museum, Market City, Paddy’s Markets, World Square, Town Hall and Central Station. City of Sydney Council has also created dedicated cycle lanes linking major tourist destinations to make riding safer and more enjoyable.
Train / Tram:
Central Station is just a 10min walk and connects to all City, Suburban & Country trains across NSW. You can also hop on the Tram (light rail) at Central to travel in air-conditioned comfort to Paddy’s Markets station right in the heart of Chinatown.
Bus / Taxi:
George Street is the main arterial corridor of Sydney which runs north/south from Circular Quay to Broadway. It has regular bus and taxi services stopping in Haymarket/Chinatown.
Monorail:
The Metro Monorail has 3 stations within the Haymarket/Chinatown precinct which are Paddy’s Markets, Chinatown & World Square. All stations have elevator access for wheelchairs, strollers and the elderly.
Car:
There are 8 parking stations within the precinct but as with all large cities, traffic can become congested so public transport is recommended.
