Downs has always worked in a non-rectilinear format; his paintings burst out of their frame over thirty years ago and have never gone back. In recent times, Downs has spent considerable time in China and has just returned to Sydney after working for eight months in studios in Beijing, he has developed a series of works which attempt to come to terms with the astonishing energies of a city and a country which is in a vortex of activity.

Brett Bailey, an Australian artist fascinated by Asian art as well as Asian history, philosophy and politics, developed an understanding of mankind’s relationship to nature. He was a finalist in the 2009 Art Gallery of NSW Wynne Prize and his works are held in public, private and corporate collections in Australia, USA, Japan, UK and Ireland.

Emily Kame Kngwarreye (1910-1996) was the leading Aboriginal artist from Utopia. She had a retrospective exhibition in 1998 at Queensland Art Gallery, Art Gallery of NSW and Natinal Gallery of Voctoria. A major international exhibition 'Utopia: The Genius of Emily Kame Kngwarreye' was held in 2008 in Japan at the National Museum of Art in Osaka, and the National Art Centre in Tokyo and in Australia at the National Museum of Australia.
