Thomas Street Plans
The Lord Mayor presented the concept plans of Thomas Street upgrade in Chinatown recently as part of the 2010 Chinatown Public Domain Plan which outlines ten projects for improvements to streets and public spaces in the next ten years. The Thomas Street upgrade is the second stage of the Plan.
"Chinatown is one of Sydney's jewels. It is a big part of our city's cultural life and our plans for Thomas Street will make the area even better for the thousands of people in the area each day," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

7 May 2013 Simon Chan receives the NSW Premiere's Multicultural Award for Arts and Culture Congratulations to Simon Chan, Chamber secretary and Art Atrium Gallery owner, after being nominated by Australian Chinese Community Association and receiving the NSW Premier's Multicultural Award for Arts and Culture award which was presented by The Hon Barry O'Farrell and Victor Dominello MP at the Parliament House last week. The award is in recognition of the achievements of an individual who has enhanced the cultural and artistic life of NSW through the promotion of cultural understanding, information exchange and artistic endeavours across different cultural communities.
1 May 2013 UTS Sign Sun Yat-sen University Deal The Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon Julia Gillard, last week witnessed the signing of the Key Technology Partnership agreement by UTS and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). SYSU is located in Guangzhou and is UTS's fourth Key Technology Partner in mainland China.
11 March 2013 Sydney skyline to get 240 metre apartment block The southern end of the Sydney city is about to get an additional 400-plus new apartments in a tower billed as the tallest residential block in Sydney. The project will be developed by Chinese company Greenland Group, which has lodged plans for a $600 million development of 240 metre apartment building. 17 February 2013 Chinese New Year Events 2013 The Chamber attended the Australian Chinese Community Association's (ACCA) annual CNY dinner, Westpac's annual CNY harbour cruise and City of Sydney's inaugrual Twilight Parade. NSW government Lifts Freeze on New Liquor Licenses for the southern part of the Sydney CBD, an area that spans from Town Hall to Haymarket. This means that new hotels, bars and clubs can open in the area, and that owners of existing venues can apply to increase their capacity and trading hours. Find out more HERE
